Tenderly:
The Rosemary Clooney Musical
(L.D. & M.E.)
at Canterbury Summer Theatre
July 2016

This was the opening scene of the show. Rosemary at this point was meant to be in the middle of a performance at Reno, Nevada. She was illuminated only by very light front light, the practical in the background, and a spot light.

The majority of the story was told through the recitation of Rosemary's life in her psychiatrists office. Different locations were conveyed further downstage with isolated acting areas and colors to communicate the transition of time and place.

This was the main isolated acting area when in the Doctor's office. This space also had its own separate acting areas that would help convey changes in location and time when this area was used for scenes outside of the Doctor's office. For example I could bring down the lights on The Doctor's desk and the downstage edge and isolate the couch to communicate a change to a scene inside Rosemary's home.

Rosemary, as a young girl, meets with a radio host at the station. The host was played by our accompanist (Napat Mingkwanyuen). Here you can see the scrim and how it differs from the previous scenes. This scene was done downstage center with strong front light and the scrim illuminated behind them. The Doctor's Office stayed lightly illuminated behind the actors.

The male actor (Jesse Kortus) played nearly every other role in the show.

For Bing Crosby's I balanced out the warm reddish light with the cool blue light on the scrim. I did this to convey the cheerful and colorful friendship that Bing offered Rosemary.

About Me
Theatre is my life, theatre is my passion. Whether I’m on stage as an actor or climbing ladders as a Master Electrician or Lighting Designer I know that it is where I belong. The collaborative efforts of every artist involved brings an energy to the stage that I thrive off of. It is my creative oxygen.
I have been involved with numerous shows both as an actor and as a lighting technician of some sort and have loved every minute of it. I try my best to bring an infectious positivity and brightness to every job so that those working with me can in turn enjoy the art as much as I do. I believe that theatre is an art that gives back what is put into it. So if a group of people enjoy and love the work they were doing it will be evident in the final product and felt by the audience.
I currently live in Chicago, Illinois
